Middle Ages Settlement Discovered  during Construction in Shamakha

Azerbaijan, Baku / corr. Trend E.Huseynli / Najaf Museybli, the Deputy Director of the Azerbaijani Archeology and Ethnography Institute at the Azerbaijani National Science Academy, stated on 20 June that during repair-construction work by the open joint-stock Azerenergy company in the Nagarakhan village area of the Shamakha region of Azerbaijan, a settlement, belonging to the Middle Ages, was discovered.

According to the Director of the Institute, the important discovery was damaged during construction work. The Azerbaijani Culture and Tourism Minister ordered to suspend the construction immediately.

Museybli noted that due to the situation, the joint stock company received a proposal. Before beginning construction, the organization needs to appeal to the corresponding structures.

Azerenergy informed that the repair is for the energy networks of Shamakha.
