Presidential Elections in   Azerbaijan Take Place Democratically, Fairly and Transparently: Ombudsman

Azerbaijan, Baku, 15 October /corr. Trend J.Babayeva / Azerbaijani Ombudsman is satisfied with the elections in the country on 15 October.

"The presidential elections in Azerbaijan differed from the previous elections with their quality," Azerbaijani Ombudsman, Elmira Suleymanova, briefed the media.

Seven candidates participated in the 15 October presidential elections, including Ilham Aliyev, chairman of ruling New Azerbaijan Party; Igbal Agazade, chairman of opposition Umid (Hope) Party; Fazil Gazanfaroglu, chairman of Great Establishment Party; Gudrat Hasanguliyev, chairman of Unified Popular Front Party; Hafiz Hajiyev, chairman of Muasir Musavat Party; Fuad Aliyev, chairman of Liberal Democrat Party and independent candidate Gulamhuseyn Alibayli.

"The voters voluntarily participated in the elections. According to the information by the representatives of the Ombudsman Office, who observed the elections, attendance of the voters was at high level," she said.

Ombudsman said that tension was not recorded amongst the candidates. "All conditions were created for them during the elections campaign. The elections in Azerbaijan took place democratically, fairly and transparently," she said.
