A delegation of the European Parliament will visit Iran next week, Iranian Parliamentary Foreign Policy and National Security Commission spokesman Kazem Jalali has today said at the conference "Iran-EU relations: Previous experiences, future perspectives", Fars news agency reported.

He called the delegation's visit important in terms of the development of the relations.

"If the negotiations with the European Parliament yield positive results, then, it will create opportunities to further improve the relations," Jalali said.

The European Union issued fresh sanctions against three Iranian ministers and 26 others on Oct.12, while the Union imposed sanctions against other 32 Iranian officials in April.

Earlier, European Union leaders have approved a new set of sanctions against Iran. The fresh EU sanctions include a ban on investments, technical assistance and technology transfers to Iran's key oil and gas industry. Iran's shipping and air cargo companies will also be banned from operating in EU territory, and new visa bans and asset freezes will target Iranian Revolutionary Guards.
