OSCE PA will not observe presidential elections in Azerbaijan

Azerbaijan, Baku, August 9 /Trend/

The OSCE Parliament Assembly (PA) will not send its observers to the forthcoming presidential elections in Azerbaijan. This decision was made by the President of OSCE PA Ranko Krivokapic, according to a report posted on the OSCE PA website.

Presidential elections in Azerbaijan are scheduled for October 9.

According to the report, this decision was made for the reason that the date for elections in Azerbaijan coincides with the Assembly's Autumn Meeting on October 13-15 in Budva, Montenegro.

According to Krivokapic, OSCE PA pursues a longstanding policy exclusively focusing on the observation of parliamentary elections and monitors presidential elections only in exceptional cases.
