BAKU, Azerbaijan, July 30. Azerbaijani Foreign Minister Jeyhun Bayramov received the newly appointed ambassador of the Islamic Republic of Pakistan Qasim Mohiuddin on July 30, 2024, Trend reports.
According to the information, the ambassador presented copies of his credentials to the Foreign Minister.
“The Minister congratulated the ambassador on his appointment to the post and wished him success in his work. Qasim Mohiuddin noted that he would make all efforts for the further development of relations between the two countries. The meeting discussed the current agenda of the strategic partnership between Azerbaijan and Pakistan, the implementation of agreements reached during the official visit of the President of the Republic of Azerbaijan to the Islamic Republic of Pakistan, as well as plans for the future.
The sides highly assessed the existing relations of strategic cooperation between the two friendly and brotherly countries and emphasized the need to further deepen cooperation in many directions. Considering the importance of the trilateral meeting held on July 3 this year between the Presidents of Azerbaijan and Türkiye and the Prime Minister of Pakistan, it was emphasized that, in general, strengthening the trilateral format will contribute to the development of the peoples of the three countries as well as to the strengthening of regional and global peace and stability.
Furthermore, the importance of mutual support within multilateral formats, including the United Nations, as well as several regional and international organizations such as the Non-Aligned Movement and the Organization of Islamic Cooperation, was highlighted. On the occasion of Pakistan's election as a member of the UN Security Council for 2025-2026, congratulations were conveyed.
The meeting pointed out additional opportunities for high-level contacts between the two countries on the sidelines of the 29th session of the Conference of Parties (COP29).
Moreover, during the meeting, the sides exchanged views on other bilateral and regional issues of mutual interest.
