Azerbaijan, Baku / Trend corr. К. Zarbaliyeva / The head of the Russian Penal Service is on a top official visit to Azerbaijan. The delegation consisting of four representatives of the Federal Service on the implementation of punishments of the Russian Federation met with the Deputy Justice Minister of Azerbaijan and head of the Azerbaijani Penal Service, Nazim Alakparov, the Penal Service reported to the Trend Agency.
The bilateral cooperation between both structures, exchange of experience on mutual transformation of prisoners and development of personnel for Penal Services of both countries has been considered within the framework of the meeting. The delegation will also visit the Azerbaijani prisons.
Eduard Petrukhin, the Deputy Chief of the Federal Service on implementation of punishments of the Russian Federation, headed the delegation.
The goal of the visit is to become familiar with the penal system of Azerbaijan and to expand future cooperation between the prison systems of both countries.
An agreement on mutual cooperation was signed between the Azerbaijan and the Russian Justice Ministries in 2001.
