The Chairman of the Caucasus Muslims Board (CMD), Sheikhulislam Haji Allahshukur Pashazade opposed erecting of gravestones.
"According to Sharia, monuments should not be erected," the head of CMD told journalists on Sept. 15.
Recently, the erection of gravestones has acquired a mass character. Mourning ceremonies are held too luxuriantly.
Pashazade said not only believers, but the entire community should deal with such facts.
"To do this, it is necessary to strengthen enlightenment in the society," said the chairman of CMD.
