Russia is proud to have Azerbaijanis as cultural figures, Russian Culture Minister Alexander Avdeev told journalists in Baku today.
"Our goal is to establish relations between the civil societies of Russia and Azerbaijan", he said at the Azerbaijan-Russia Civil Forum.
According to the minister, the meeting participants will discuss the preservation and further development of the Azerbaijani and Russian languages.
"It is interesting to discuss the fate of culture, culture should not succumb to the effects of the market and become a hostage to market relations," he said. "We must educate the youth in a spirit of respect for the culture of its own people and neighbors."
