The Azerbaijani State Committee for the Work with Religious Associations opened a council to control the construction of mosques today.
"Anyone who wants to build or repair a mosque must provide the relevant documents to the council," committee Chairman Hidayat Orujev told media. "The mosque can be built or renovated only after receiving a confirmation from the counci."
Representatives of local executive bodies, the Caucasian Muslims Office, and the State Committee for Land and Cartography will be council members, Orujev said.
