The second volume of the book "History of the Azerbaijani press (1920-1990)" by Candidate of Philological Sciences, Associate Professor Akif Ashirli was presented July 20 at the Ataturk Center.

"I realized that there is a need for such a book. By publishing it, I tried to fill the existing void. It is also an answer to my question "Why isn't anything written about the history of Azerbaijani press?" based on my professional base. This book consists of two volumes; its first volume was presented in 2009. In the first part of the book I tried to tell the story of the Azerbaijani press from 1875 to 1920,"- Ashirli said in his speech.

He said, today journalism of the Soviet period is treated ambiguously in Azerbaijan, and there are different views regarding this period.

"I'm just a citizen, impartially and objectively tried to approach these processes and wrote about the Soviet period of the Azerbaijani press," the author said.

Author of the preface and scientific editor of the book, head of subdepartment of Baku State University (BSU), Professor Jahangir Mammadli while addressing at the meeting said that the publication of each book is a holiday. "The Azeribaijani press, the 135th anniversary of which is celebrated today, has a worthy story. This book is intended not only for students of journalism faculty, but for all people interested in the press."

"This book has a chronological and typological approach to the Azerbaijani press. Our press is classified by historical periods and ideological issues, and the objectivity is preserved in all approaches," Rashad Majid, chief editor of the 525th newspaper said in his speech at the presentation.

The book covers the history of the Azerbaijani press from 1920 to 1990, the period of the Soviet press. This is the only book on the study of this period.
