The Georgian city of Batumi rallied last night against a gay parade scheduled to take place later this afternoon.

The St. Barbara Church and local vacationers protested the parade near the Sheraton Hotel. The parade's organizers and participants were inside the hotel at the time.

According to protesters, a gay parade should not be held in an Orthodox country. They called upon the authorities to consider the patriarch's request and to stop the parade.

The parade was scheduled for this afternoon. However, the Batumi Mayor's Office has stated that it has received no information about the holding of the event.
