About 140 participants from 32 countries will compete for the World Cup in Kyokushin Karate in the Kazakh capital, All Kazakhstan Kyokushin Karate Organization Presidential Adviser Murat Isakhanov said.
He added that the competition starts on July 6.
"Six countries claimed to hold the World Cup," he said. "Kazakhstan won as a result of the draw at the European Championship in 2009."
He said that applicants for holding the World Cup were Japan, South Korea, Netherlands, Russia and Spain. The competition will take place in three weight categories among men (67.5 kg, 77.5 kg and more) and women (52.5 kg, 62.5 kg and more).
