Award ceremony was held at the National Gymnastics Arena in Baku Feb. 21 for the first winners of the FIG World Challenge Cup in Artistic Gymnastics.

The ceremony was held for the winners among men in rings event, pommel horse and floor exercises and among women in vault and uneven bars events.

The award ceremony was attended by the Vice-President of Azerbaijan Gymnastics Federation (AGF) Altay Hasanov, member of the Executive Committee of the International Federation of Gymnastics (FIG), secretary general of Japanese Gymnastics Association Morinari Watanabe, head coach of Azerbaijani national rhythmic gymnastics team Mariana Vasileva, director of the competition hall, international referee Rza Aliyev and director of the competition, international referee on rhythmic gymnastics Natalia Bulanova.

Following the ceremony, the AGF Vice-President Altay Hasanov said that although the first day of the competitions was difficult, Azerbaijani gymnast Oleg Stepko has already started performing smoothly in the finals and won bronze.

"I hope that the evening session will be even more successful and we will see new victories," said Hasanov.

He added that Stepko can compete for the gold medal in bars event.

The FIG World Challenge Cup in Artistic Gymnastics kicked off in Baku Feb. 19 and is to end Feb. 21. As many as 45 male and 22 female gymnasts compete for medals in apparatus finals of the World Challenge Cup.
