BAKU, Azerbaijan, May 19. As many as 211 people have been vaccinated against COVID-19 in Azerbaijan, Trend reports referring to the Operational Headquarters under the Azerbaijani Cabinet of Ministers.
The first dose of the vaccine was injected into 56 citizens, the second dose – 130 citizens, while the third dose and the next doses were received by 22 citizens. Three citizens were vaccinated with a booster dose after a positive test result for COVID-19.
Totally, up until now, 13,963,811 vaccine doses were administered, 5,411,187 citizens received the first dose of the vaccine, 4,883,154 people – the second dose, 3,403,269 people – the third dose, and the next doses.
Besides, 266,201 citizens were vaccinated with a booster dose after a positive test result for COVID-19.
The first COVID-19 case in Azerbaijan was reported on Feb. 28, 2020. The coronavirus outbreak reportedly started in the Chinese city of Wuhan - which is an international transport hub - at a fish market in late December 2019. The World Health Organization (WHO) on March 11 declared COVID-19 a pandemic. Some sources claim the coronavirus outbreak started as early as November 2019.
