BAKU, Azerbaijan, September 12. A total of 379 people became victims of mine incidents in the territory of East Zangezur and Karabakh in 2020-2024, the manager of the Azerbaijani Mine Action Agency (ANAMA) Gabil Babayev told Trend.

He noted that 70 of them died, while 309 people suffered various injuries.

“There is serious contamination of the territories liberated from occupation with mines and other explosive remnants. During explosions, people lose their lives or health, and the incidents lead to long-term severe psychological traumas.

Civilians are victims of mines in most cases. A total of 379 civilians have been victims of mine incidents from November 2020 to date. Of these, 70 have died and 309 have suffered injuries of varying severity,” he added.

Babayev also emphasized that up to this point, the demining efforts have been in full swing across the lands of East Zangezur and Karabakh, covering a whopping 161,000 hectares. To date, the Agency's demining team has neutralized 157,000 mines and unexploded ordnance on site.

To note, the Azerbaijani Mine Action Agency (ANAMA) organized a media tour for reporters in the territories liberated from occupation.
