One of the directors of Correctional Institution #3 of Mixed Type of the Penitentiary Service of the Azerbaijan Justice Ministry informed Trend that the ration of the prisoners suffering from tuberculosis will be changed.
Programme DOTC+, which is considered for curing a most serious from of tuberculosis, which is not subjected to the usual treatment is expected to be launched in the correctional institution. Within the program, the institution will receive technical procurement вЂ" Azerbaijan will receive medicaments and medical techniques and appliances. Under the financial support of the Azerbaijan Government within DOTC+, the food allowance for those prisoners who suffer from tuberculosis is expected to be fully changed. Their ration will be enriched with high-calorie foods.
800 prisoners are serving their sentences in the correctional institution, with 450 (including 2 women) out of them staying in the T. B. Prophylactic Centre. 8 physicians of the centre are expected to pass two trainings to improve the qualification for the efficient cure of tuberculosis.
