Sting thinks his name is "silly"

(femalefirst.co.uk) - The singer has admitted his tough upbringing in Newcastle, England, forced him to live up to his name.Sting said: "I think I am a bit more mellow now, but I do enter that persona for the performances. I used to be hard case, I come from Newcastle, where men are hard and don't cry. They wear T-shirts when it snows. "I used to live up to my name. My silly name. I hope I am nicer now, more relaxed, less driven to control everything. I used to feel like an outsider."

Sting, who reunited with his former The Police bandmates to perform at the Grammy Awards this year, recently announced plans to tour with Andy Summers and Stewart Copeland. The Police will also perform at the US leg of the Live Earth concerts on July 7. The trio will headline at New Jersey's Giants stadium event to promote environmental awareness.
