Names of 109 Persons Removed from Missing Persons List

Azerbaijan, Baku / Тrend corr K. Zarbaliyeva / The State Commission on POWs, Hostages, and Missing Persons clarified the whereabouts of 109 Azerbaijani citizens within the last five months, and their names have been removed from the missing persons list. The number of prisoners of war, hostages and missing persons for 1 June is 4,466, with 3,589 of them being military men and 868 civilians (the status of nine people has not yet been defined).

Within the civilians fifty-one are children, (seventeen very young girls) and 382 are elderly people (174 women). The Commission has received the data that 783 out of 4,466 missing persons are kept prisoners. The reports are based on witness' evidence.

Some 1,391 hostages and captives have been released, with 343 of them being women, 1,047 men, 168 children (sixty-five very young girls), and 289 elderly people (112 women).

The analysis of the data revealed that 451 hostages and captives have been murdered or died due to other reasons, with eighty-six women and 365 men. The names of only 124 of them are known, sixty-seven, however, have not yet been identified.
