Azerbaijan’s Former Health Minister to Undergo Repeat Medical Examination

Azerbaijan, Baku/ Trend , corr. K. Zarbaliyeva/ Nazim Alakbarov, the Deputy of the Justice Minister of Azerbaijan, Chief of the Penitentiary System of the Country, said on 5 June that the former Azerbaijani Health Minister, Ali Insanov, will undergo repeat medical examinations.

According to him, Ali Insanov appealed with a request to have him sent to the Medical Centre of the Azerbaijan Penitentiary System. Hasanov was examined by the doctors of the medical-sanitarian part of the Centre. It was then decided to invite the Health Department of the Justice Ministry of Azerbaijan to examine Hasanov once again.

"Ali Hasanov has no serious health problems. If found to be necessary after his repeat medical examination, he will be transferred to the Medical Centre of the Azerbaijan Penitentiary System," Alekperov said.

Arrested in October 2005 for attempting a coup d'etat, Ali Insanov was found guilty with regards to crimes linked with corruption and he was sentenced to 11-years' imprisonment and the confiscation of his property. Currently Hasanov is detained in Bayl Investigation Isolator No. 1 of the Penal Service of Azerbaijan.

Due to his health problems, Hasanov requested that he be sent to the Medical Centre of the Penitentiary System. The medical examination confirmed that Hasanov suffered from a hernia on his back
