BAKU, Azerbaijan, June 1. One of the first projects within the framework of the memorandum of cooperation with Damen Shipyards Gorinchem will be the construction of a small dredger for deepening the bottom of the Caspian Sea, Chairman of the Board of Baku Shipyard Elshad Nuriev said, Trend reports.
“The signed memorandum on deepening the bottom of the Caspian marks the beginning of promising cooperation between the parties. This project is an important step in the development of maritime infrastructure and in ensuring the safety of navigation in this region. The key partner in implementing the project will be Baku Shipyard, known for its high level of productivity. The plant has a production capacity of 25 thousand tons of metal processing per year, which will allow for efficient construction of a dredger and ensure its reliability and durability,” he said.
According to him, this is an important step in the development of infrastructure in the Caspian and in strengthening the country’s position in maritime activities.
“Cooperation between the parties will deepen, opening up new opportunities for economic growth and development of the region,” he added.
Reportedly, on June 1, 2023, Baku Shipyard LLC, Baku International Sea Trade Port and Dutch Damen Shipyards Gorinchem B.V. signed a memorandum of understanding on tripartite cooperation. Within this cooperation, Damen ships will be built at Baku Shipyard.
