Mitsubishi Lancer Evolution X Launched (JA)

( Worldcarfans ) - The day has finally arrived, Mitsubishi has officially launched its brand new Lancer Evolution X. The Evo X hits Japanese showrooms today, but those who want their Evo to be fitted with the Twin Clutch SST (Sport Shift Transmission) will have to wait until the end of November. For now, the Mitsubishi Lancer Evolution X GSR and SR are only available with the 5-speed manual gearbox.

The 10th generation Evo has a longer and wider wheelbase than its predecessor while the front overhang has decreased by 20mm resulting in a more stable ride. Weight has been kept to a minimum on the new everyday sportscar by using aluminium in the roof panel, front and rear fenders and engine. The 4B11 engine weighs 12kg less than the previous 4G63 and produces more torque (422 Nm) while putting 206 kW or 280 hp to the road. The new engine is also environmentally friendlier with emissions 50% lower than Japanese guidelines.

Mitsubishi has aimed to provide a sportscar which is as fast as possible while staying as safe as possible, which has resulted in a range of airbags, S-AWC (Super All Wheel Control) and the Twin Clutch SST transmission.

Pricing for the Mitsubishi Lancer Evo X GSR starts at yen 3,495,450 (EURO 21,425) for the manual transmission and yen 3,750,600 (EURO 22,990) for the Twin-Clutch SST. The stripped down Evo SR is available only with a manual transmission and costs yen 2,997,750 (EURO 18,375).
