Diplomat: China plans to increase investments in Afghan economy

China intends to increase investments in Afghanistan's economy, the secretary of the Afghan Embassy in Beijing Harun Nedjmpoor said.

According to information provided by the Minister of Mines of Afghanistan Vahid Shahrani in the geological center of the U.S. in June, the fields of the country are estimated at three trillion dollars compared to one trillion dollars, previously estimated. The Afghan Government considers attracting foreign capital into the country as priority.

China promised to invest in the development of copper ore in the area "Einek" 3 billion dollars, but as a result of the final talks amount of investments is planned to increase to 10 billion dollars.

After announcing in the center of the U.S. the geological report on Afghanistan's stocks, Kabul began actively to attract foreign investment. In particular, for the last week Afghanistan has done large work to attract the British investors. The result of the event will be the Afghani Mines Minister's visit to the UK June 25.

At present, the Afghanistan's President Hamid Karzai is on visit to Japan. The main purpose of the visit is to attract the Japanese investors.

Japan is the second country after the United States, rendering financial assistance to Afghanistan. Tokyo has promised financial assistance to Afghanistan worth five billion dollar.

There are oil and gas reserves in Afghanistan, Nedjmpoor said.

According to the geological center of the U.S., oil reserves in Afghanistan are 1,6 billion barrels, gas - 444 billion cubic meters.
