Azersu has carried out a number of activities within the state program to improve the water supply and sanitation system over 2005-2010, Azersu head Nizameddin Rzayev said in an interview with the ruling New Azerbaijan Party's website.
"Today, 850 kilometers of water pipelines were constructed, as were 470.3 kilometers of sewer lines, 58 reservoirs with a capacity of 105,550 cubic meters, 32 water-pumping stations, 30 water reception facilities, two wastewater purification plants with a total capacity of 26,000 cubic meters per day and 20 sewer-pumping stations," Rzayev said.
He said 123 artesian and sub-artesian wells were also drilled, as were 24 water reservoirs and 7 pumping stations. Ten industrial buildings were also constructed, and 13 sewer-pumping stations were rehabilitated.
In 2005-2010 in Baku and Absheron, water lines with a total length of 292 kilometers were constructed, as were sewer lines with a length 354.8 kilometers, 35 water reservoirs with a total capacity of 95,500 cubic meters, 20 water-pumping stations, two sewage purification plants with a total capacity of 26,000 cubic meters, and 15 sewer-pumping stations. In addition, 14 reservoirs, two water-pumping lines and four sewer-pumping lines were reconstructed.
The Hovsan Aerasiya and Zig pumping stations were reconstructed, as well as a water and sewerage systems in the Shuvalan, Buzovna, Nakhimov and other settlements, Rzayev said.
The first stage of a sewage treatment installation was also built with a capacity of 200,000 cubic meters in Sumgayit to prevent the flow of dirty water into the Caspian Sea, Rzayev said.
