The number of banks operating at a profit, amounted to 32, decreasing by 7 in Azerbaijan last December compared to late 2009. It increased by 1 compared to the previous month, the Central Bank of Azerbaijan (CBA) said.
The total profit of the banking system for 2010 decreased by 52,5 percent, and increased by 10.3 percent compared to November 2010, amounting to 120.27 million manat.
The number of unprofitable banks in relation to November reduced by three, and on an annualized basis increased by six banks. As a result, the loss of 13 banks amounted to 45.57 million manat, or 12.1 percent more than in November and 2.75 times more than in 2009.
