Economist: Iran’s share of world exports to reach 0.33 per cent

Iran's share of the world's exports will be 0.33 per cent (62.5 billion dollars) in 2013, ISNA news agency reported citing an analysis from The Economist.

The analysis also predicted that Iran's share would stand at 0.33 per cent for the next two years and fall to 0.32 per cent in 2015 and 2016.

According to the Economist, Iran's share of global exports stood at 0.37 per cent (67 billion dollars) in 2012.

Based on Iran's Customs Administration's figures, Tehran in total exported 32 billion dollars' worth of non-oil goods excluding gas condensates in the previous year. Petrochemical exports accounted for 10 billion dollars of the mentioned amount which equals over 30 per cent of the country's total non-oil exports.

Iranian Deputy Industry, Mine, and Trade Minister Hamid Safdel said last month that Iran is the world's 28th largest exporter, despite the EU and US sanctions and the country's export value is reaching the country's imports.

According to the World Trade Organisation (WTO), Iran's share of world's exports in 2012 was 0.6 per cent.

The report suggests that Iran's total exports including oil and gas in 2012, stood at 96 billion dollars.

The world's total exports in 2012 were 18.3 trillion dollars which is 0.2 per cent more than its preceding year.

Iran's balance of trade with 97 countries such the United Arab Emirates, South Korea, Switzerland, Turkey, and China was negative in the previous calendar year which ended March 20, the ISNA News Agency reported on March 6.

Deputy Director of the Trade Promotion Organisation of Iran, Kioumars Fathollah Kermanshahi said on May 6 that the country's non-oil exports will reach 59 billion dollars in the current calendar year which ends March 20, 2014.

The announced figure is based on Iran's Fifth Five-Year Economic Development Plan, the IRNA News Agency quoted Kermanshahi as saying.

He went on to note that technical and engineering services will account for 18 billion dollars of the aforementioned amount.
