Referring to the potential impact of US sanctions on the implementation of industrial productivity projects in Iran, the Chief of Energy Systems and Infrastructure Division of UNIDO (United Nations Industrial Development Organization), Rana Ghoneim told Trend that it is very difficult to comment because it is still unclear what will happen.

Comparing Iran's level of energy efficiency and the use of clean fuels with other countries, she said that Iran has bigger projects in this field, compared to its neighboring countries.

Pointing to the advantages of Iran, Ghoneim said that due to the technical skills and higher knowledge, Iran achieved better results.

"We hope that Iran will achieve the goals set out in the Paris agreement, but there is two crucial factors to reduce fossil energy consumption, achieve more clean fuels and increase productivity,” she said.

“First is conducting the right policies and then - financial mechanism," she said.

The Paris Agreement is an agreement within the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change, dealing with greenhouse-gas-emissions mitigation, adaptation, and finance, starting in the year 2020.
