TEHRAN, Iran, Oct.19

Trend:

The Central Bank of Iran's foreign currency policy has created problems in the production and export sector and the changing regulations for returning foreign currency revenue confused exporters," said the head of Iran Chamber of Commerce

"It is necessary to exempt exporters from returning foreign currency revenues since there is difficulty to return the export revenue, but the Central Bank of Iran has decided to confront exporters," said Gholam Hossein Shafei, Trend reports citing the Chamber of Commerce website.

"The studies show that providing bank advances to industrial producers has been declining in the past decade and we insist that the sector should at least share 40 percent of bank advances," he added.

According to Shafei, the challenges have grown in the past two years that was due to short term decisions that damaged the economy and now finally being reviewed and the private sector is still being ignored.

"It is also necessary to implement the regulation to improve the business environment and support producers and exporters that have been remained committed to returning foreign currency by offering advances," he noted.

He also mentioned that there should be a possibility to supply foreign currency needs of production units from the foreign currency revenues that have already been returned.

"The Trade Promotion Organization should also support trade more and become more active while the cooperation of provincial commissions in chambers of commerce on specific issues such as border issues could improve trade," he said.
