Uzbekistan, UAE eye expanding co-op via new projects in agriculture field

Uzbekistan and the United Arab Emirates considered projects to create innovative greenhouses for the production of agricultural products in accordance with the Emirati and international quality standards, Trend reports citing the Ministry of Investment and Foreign Trade.

On November 5, Deputy Prime Minister, Minister of Investments and Foreign Trade of Uzbekistan Sardor Umurzakov held a meeting with the newly appointed Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the United Arab Emirates to Uzbekistan Sultan Al Siri Al Kamzi.

The parties discussed the progress in the implementation of bilateral agreements and the prospects for expanding trade, economic, and investment cooperation between the two countries.

The progress of the implementation of joint investment projects in the field of energy, logistics, and agriculture, as well as the activities of the joint Uzbek-Emirates investment company, was considered.

In addition, the sides discussed the possibilities of expanding cooperation through the implementation of new projects in the field of agriculture. In particular, projects were considered for the creation of innovative greenhouses for the production of agricultural products in accordance with the Emirati and international quality standards, which will allow organizing large supplies of these goods to the markets of the UAE and third countries.

In this context, the urgency of creating relevant laboratories and certification centers in Uzbekistan was noted, and an agreement was reached on joint work in this direction.
