TEHRAN, Iran, Nov. 11

A member of the Tehran Chamber of Commerce said that the coronavirus outbreak and the US sanctions have the current carpet exports in a very bad situation.
“The “export versus import” method cannot be adjusted to the carpet export as the importer needs high figures of export to exchange but the carpet exporter cannot supply this amount,” Razi Miri, deputy head of the Iranian Carpet Exporters' Association said, Trend reports citing ILNA.
"The foreign currency fluctuation is a great tragedy not only for the carpet exporters but for every exporter," he said. “Such fluctuation can lead to the bankruptcy of exporters .”
Miri went on to say that “High foreign exchange rate without stability has no positive effect on the exporter.
"The situation of carpet manufacturers and exporters is very bad," said Miri. “Carpet is not an essential commodity like clothes and food but a luxury item.”
“On the other hand, we are under sanctions and our trade with the target countries is facing many problems, such as money transactions and transportation,” he added.
