Azerbaijan, Baku / corr Trend I.Khalilova / Azerbaijani banks have intensified their work with the application for international payment cards Visa International and MasterCard.
Azerikard, the Azerbaijani Card Processing Center, announced that five banks - Xalg Bank, Amrax Bank, Para Bank, NBC Bank, and Azerbaijan Credit Banki, are preparing to become affiliated members of MasterCard. The International Bank of Azerbaijan (IBA) acts as sponsor of these banks.
In turn Texnika Bank plans to become a full member of MasterCard. Meanwhile, United Credit Bank and Gandja Bank are eager to obtain membership at another payment system, Visa, through the IBA's sponsorship.
However, Respublika Bank announced its plans to change its status at Visa and become a full member. Standard Bank, Azerigazbank, AtaBank, and Texnika Bank, which were served trough Azerikard have changed their status and now are full members of Visa. The Centre announced that Azal Bank is carrying out work joining both payment systems.
Only Deka Bank, Azal Bank, Gandja Bank, and GunayBank, out of twenty-eight banks have not been represented in any payment system served through Azerikard. However, Azal Bank and Gandja Bank are filling out documents.
