Azerbaijan Increases Export of Light Oil in 2007

Azerbaijan, Baku, 11 January / Trend / In 2007 the Azerbaijan International Operating Company (AIOC), which is involved in the development of the Azeri-Chirag-Guneshli fields (ACG) exported 29.3mln tons of Azeri Light oil as compared to 21mln tons last year.

Since April the AIOC ceased exports via the Baku-Novorossiysk and by rail in the direction of the Georgian port of Batumi (except the companies Exxon and Devon, participants of the AIOC). However, in September transportation via the Baku-Tbilisi-Ceyhan export pipeline was restored.

Export via the Baku-Novorossiysk (northern pipeline) made up 856,300 tons compared to 3.5 mln tons in 2006.

Export to Georgia towards the Batumi port made up 986,000 mln tons of oil in 2007, as compared to 4.2 mln tons in 2006.

During this period 27.5 mln tons of oil was transported through the Baku-Tbilisi-Ceyhan pipeline compared to 7.7 mln in 2006.

In December 2007, 2.6 mln tons of oil was exported via the Baku-Tbilisi-Ceyhan pipeline as compared to 1.7 mln tons in December 2006.

In 2007 the oil export via the Baku-Supsa route was terminated due to repairs to the pipeline. In 2006 5.62l mln tons was transported via the Baku-Supsa pipeline.
