To solve the price problem in the oil and gas field, several measures should be taken for the improvement of oil companies' competitiveness and transparency and the greater use of alternative technology," U.S. Department of State Special Envoy for Eurasian Energy Richard Morningstar said to Trend correspondent in Astana.

Regarding the supply of energy routes from the Caspian region, Morningstar said that there is a lot of oil and gas in the region, and it can be transported in various directions.

"The only thing which we [the U.S.] are concerned about is that countries, such as Azerbaijan, Turkmenistan and Kazakhstan, have taken the decisions that they think right for their countries and to ensure their own and global energy security," said Morningstar.

"Meetings in Astana focused on expanding the CPC [Caspian Pipeline Consortium] and implementing the KCOTS [Kazakh Caspian Oil Transportation System], and the whole Trans-Caspian project. I will note, in general, the position agreed between our countries on these projects. There is a general understanding of the importance of transporting oil from the Caspian region to world markets," the U.S. State Department's official said.
