An agreement has been reached to send additional volumes of Kazakh oil from the Tengiz Field by way of Azerbaijani Railways, Azerbaijani Transport Minister Ziya Mammadov said at an event to commemorate the Day of Railwayman and celebration of the 20th anniversary of the country's independence.
"It was agreed to transport an additional 3 million tons of the Tengiz oil by the country's railway," he said today.
Mammadov said some 1,500 to 1,600 tank cars are being purchased designed to transport the oil and petroleum products.
