Azerbaijan, Baku, July 6 / Trend E.Ismayilov /

The European Commission will consider the nomination of the Euro-Asian oil transport corridor (EOTC) as a project with European significance, Director General of the International Pipeline Company Sergei Skripka told Trend on Friday.

In May, the EOTC project was submitted to "Eastern Partnership Programme of Action for 2012 - 2013 " as a candidate for the status "of the project of common European importance." The abovementioned status assumes provision to the project of support at the state level in the form of a simplified procedure for obtaining the necessary construction permits and approvals. It also opens up opportunities to obtain additional financing from EU funds.

"It is very important perspective for us, if this happens, the support to the project at the European Commission will increase significantly. It's still early to ensure that we will obtain additional funding so far, but, of course, this status opens up the prospect of obtaining additional funds," Skripka said.

However, most importantly, in his opinion, this status imposes at EU countries, in which the project will be implemented, in this case we are talking about Poland, the obligation to simplify the licensing procedures for construction. Also, the country should be assign a state representative who will deal with this issue.
