The State Oil Company of Azerbaijan has completed the drilling of a well at the Kalmaz underground storage during the volume increase of gas injections to underground gas storages, the SOCAR resource reported to Trend on Monday. According to the source, the depth of the well amounted to 1950 metres.
"The work in the well has not yet been completed and this is why we are not going to launch it yet," the source noted.
The drilling of another well at Kalmaz gas storage is underway. Its depth amounts to 1620 of 2080 projected metres.
According to the source, the necessary equipment for drilling two wells at Garadagh and Kalmaz gas storages is currently being installed.
The gas volume in Azerbaijan's gas storages is expected to reach 3.5-3.7 billion cubic meters this year according to gas injection totals.
According to gas injection totals of last year, the gas volume in underground storages amounted to around 3.25 billion cubic meters against 3.05 billion cubic meters of the previous year.
