Azerbaijan provides over 82 percent of Georgia’s gas import in 2013

Georgia imported around 1.31 billion tons in oil equivalent, of natural gas worth of $207.44 million in 2013.

Georgia imported around 1.31 billion tons in oil equivalent, of natural gas worth of $207.44 million in 2013, GruzStat, the National Statistical Service of Georgia said in its report.

Azerbaijan is the main supplier of this kind of fuel to the country with a specific weight of 82.11 percent of Georgia's total volume of imports in this category. According to the report, Georgia imported $300.91 million worth of natural gas in 2013.

In an annual calculation, the volume of natural gas imported by Georgia from Azerbaijan increased by 29.9 percent or 0.05 billion tons of oil equivalent.

For comparison, Georgia imported 1.26 billion tons of fuel from Azerbaijan in 2012 which amounted to $190.2 million.

The specific weight of natural gas amounted to 38.72 percent of the total volume of imports from Azerbaijan to Georgia during the reporting period.

Georgia imported $638.11 million worth of products from Azerbaijan in 2013. The volume of imports from Azerbaijan to Georgia has increased by 0.7 percent during the reporting period. By comparison, Georgia imported $633.54 million worth of products from Azerbaijan in 2012.
