By Fikret Dolukhanov – Trend:
Uzbekneftegaz JSC and Honeywell UOP have achieved an agreement on use of the MTO (methanol to olefins) and Separex technologies, owned by the American company, at the enterprises of the oil and gas industry of Uzbekistan, Uzbekneftegaz stated.
The agreement on implementation of joint projects with Honeywell UOP was reached during the official visit of Uzbek President Shavkat Mirziyoyev to the US in May 2018.
A project on organization of production of methanol from natural gas, olefins from methanol using MTO technology and olefin derivatives all worth $3.2 billion will also be worked out.
Honeywell UOP is planning to cooperate with Uzbekneftegaz as a licensor of the MTO technology in the future.
Separex technology is also relevant for gas processing enterprises in Uzbekistan.
Separex membrane systems are used to remove acid gas and water from natural gas. The systems are supplied on a block basis with spirally mounted membrane elements. The advantage of Separex membrane systems is the improved quality of the processed natural gas, as well as reduction of capital and operating costs in the gas processing process.
It is worth mentioning that Japanese companies have also expressed interest in participating in investment projects of Uzbekneftegaz JSC and in supplying equipment to gas chemical complexes in Uzbekistan.
It was earlier reported that Russia's Volgogradneftemash OJSC will supply gas purification equipment for the GTL-Technology plant in Uzbekistan.
