The Seydi Oil Refinery in the east of Turkmenistan is a major exporter of oil products to the global markets, the "Neutral Turkmenistan" newspaper reported.

The gasoline, diesel and fuel oil produced at the refinery are purchased through the State Commodity and Raw Materials Exchange by companies of Europe and Asia. First cargoes of high-quality road bitumen were shipped for export this year, the report said.

In recent years, an innovative project has been implemented at the refinery. In accordance with contracts signed with the Westport Trading Europe Limited, a unit for production of road bitumen with a capacity of over 37,000 tons per year was launched. For Turkmenistan, this is the first unit, the work of which is based on visbreaking of crude oil, which allows processing heavy oil residues.

Turkmenistan plans to increase the capacity of oil refining industry to 30 million tons in 2030. At this stage, more than 10 million tons of crude oil is processed domestically.
