Use of alternative energy sources brings benefits both for the economy and the population of Azerbaijan, the Deputy Chairman of the State Agency on Alternative and Renewable Energy Sources of the Republic of Azerbaijan Jamil Malikov told Trend.
Speaking about the benefits of creating stations operating on alternative energy sources, Malikov noted that these stations are built so that energy could be supplied to the end consumer without losses, at the same time, the consumer could sell surplus energy and purchase the missing volumes from the same energy system.
In addition, the population will receive energy of better quality from these stations than from other sources, he said.
"When receiving energy from a transformer located at a distance of more than 400-500 meters, the quality of energy lowers and reaches users with losses," Malikov said.
Thus, the country will save on gas consumption, which can be exported at a higher price, the he added, touching upon the economic benefits from using alternative energy sources.
