Azerbaijani State Oil Company SOCAR sold 13 billion cubic meters of natural gas in 2019, Trend reports citing a report on the activities of the Cabinet of Ministers.
According to the report, 11.4 billion cubic meters of natural gas were sold on the domestic market. Of the 207,100 tons of liquefied petroleum gas, 193,200 tons were sold on the domestic market, 13,900 tons were exported, and 3.2 billion cubic meters of natural gas were sold to the population on the domestic market.
The company's revenues from gas sales exceeded 1.5 billion manat ($882.3 million) in 2019, and from export - 461 million manat ($271.1 million).
In 2019, in order to ensure uninterrupted gas supply to consumers in the autumn-winter period, 2.3 billion cubic meters were directed to underground gas storages, taking into account the remainder, the gas reserves in underground storage exceeded 3 billion cubic meters.
According to the government, in 2019, a total of 163.5 million manat ($96.1 million) was allocated for drilling and measures to improve gas supply and gasification in Azerbaijan. Due to these measures, the level of gasification in the country increased to 96 percent.
By the decision of the Tariff (Price) Council of Azerbaijan, the limit on natural gas for a group of consumers was increased from 1,700 cubic meters to 2,200 cubic meters.
