The gas transportation from Iran's 6th district increased by 118 percent in the last Iranian year (from March 21, 2019 to March 20, 2020) compared to 7 years ago (the current government came to power in Iran in 2013), Alireza Arablou head of 6th district of Iranian Gas Transmission Company, Trend reports citing National Iranian Gas Company’s official website.

Iranian Gas Transmission Company has 10 districts that deal with gas transportation across Iran. The 6th district accounts for southern and southeastern regions of Iran.

Arablou said that 7.4 billion cubic meters of gas was transported through the sixth district 7 years ago (from March 21, 2013 to March 21, 2014).

Arablou added that this figure increased to 16.3 billion cubic meters in the last Iranian year.

The official noted that during this period, about 97 percent of gas was transported to industrial enterprises and 3 percent to houses.

"Over the past seven years, 760 kilometers of pipelines have been added in the 6th district in Iran on gas transportation and the total length of these pipelines has increased to 3,500 kilometers," he said.
