Russia's Gazprom increases purchases of natural gas in Turkmenistan

BAKU, Azerbaijan, January 20

Russia's Gazprom increased purchases of natural gas in Turkmenistan to 3.2 billion cubic meters from January through September of 2020 compared to 2.6 billion cubic meters in the same period of 2019, Trend reports with reference to Nebit-Gaz electronic newspaper.

At the same time, Gazprom reduced gas purchase in Kazakhstan to 5.1 billion cubic meters in the three quarters of 2020 from 8.2 billion cubic meters in the same period of 2019.

Gazprom purchased 20 million cubic meters of Uzbek fuel in the reporting period.

Russia's Gazprom increased gas purchases from Turkmenistan in 1H2020 – from 1.2 billion cubic meters in the 1H2019 to 1.7 billion cubic meters.

Meanwhile, Gazprom reduced purchases from 5.4 billion cubic meters to 4.1 billion cubic meters of gas from Kazakhstan and stopped buying natural gas from Uzbekistan from the beginning of 2020 till the end of June.

In total, Gazprom's purchases of gas in Central Asia fell from 9.9 billion cubic meters to 5.8 billion cubic meters from January through June 2019.
