Turkmenistan imported mineral fuels, mineral oils, and products of their distillation; bituminous substances; mineral waxes in the amount of over 3.6 million Euros from Germany from January through June 2021, Eurostat told Trend.
Eurostat reports that the total volume of German oil products imported by Turkmenistan during the reporting period accounted for 1,107 tons.
In particular, in January 2021 Turkmenistan imported 201 tons of German oil products worth 628,127 euros, in February – 88 tons worth 221,701 euros, in March – 303 tons worth 954,435 euros, in April – 77 tons worth 336,970 euros, in May – 234 tons worth 890,179 euros and in June 201 tons worth 630, 976 euros.
Earlier, a source in the German Ministry of Foreign Affairs told Trend that there is potential for further investment by German firms in Turkmenistan in the diversification of the Turkmen economy and in modernization projects.
Germany may also invest in Turkmen sectors dealing with climate change, environment and water management, the representative added.
"There are about 50 German companies active in Turkmenistan," the ministry had said.
German companies such as Siemens, Daimler, Rohde & Schwarz, Dresser-Rand, MAN, Bosch and others make a significant contribution to the implementation of long-term projects in Turkmenistan, the source noted.
