Azerbaijan discloses data on its oil exports to Italy

Azerbaijan exported over 8.9 million tons of oil to Italy from January through August 2021, Trend reports on Sept.20 with reference to the Azerbaijani State Customs Committee (SCC).

According to the committee, this figure made up 52.4 percent of the total oil export by Azerbaijan.

In value terms, the oil export to Italy in the first eight months of this year exceeded $4 billion, the committee said.

Azerbaijan as a whole exported over 18.7 million tons of oil to foreign countries in the reporting period, which is by nearly two million tons or 9.5 percent less on annual basis.

Meanwhile, the total value of Azerbaijan’s oil export abroad was almost $8.5 billion, up by $1.7 billion or 25.1 percent compared to the first eight months of 2020.

The trade turnover between Azerbaijan and Italy from January through August 2021 made up nearly $5.1 billion, which is growth of $1.8 billion (35.2 percent) year on year.

Some $12.9 billion accounted for export in the structure of Azerbaijan’s foreign trade turnover during the reporting period, which is by $3 billion (30.9 percent) more than in the same period of 2020. The share of export reached 63.77 percent against 59.62 percent a year earlier.

Meanwhile, Azerbaijan's imports exceeded $7.3 billion, increasing by $659 million or 9.8 percent compared to the same period of 2020. The share of import in the foreign trade turnover amounted to 36.23 percent.

The balance of foreign trade turnover on annual basis increased by almost $2.4 billion (42.8 percent), and, remaining positive, amounted to $5.5 billion, added the SCC.
