The Iranian Oil Ministry attaches great importance to the collection of flare gas and protection of the environment in oil-producing areas, an official of the ministry, Mazahir Ansari said, Trend reports citing the National Iranian South Oil Company’s website.
He made the remark in the event is dedicated to the launch of three units for the collection of flare gas in the NISOC.
According to Ansari, the Iranian Oil Ministry has allocated $5 billion related to collecting flare gas.
The official also added that completion of the plans for a collection of flare gas will allow preventing the burning of 9 billion cubic meters of gas per year and the release of 33 million tons of carbon dioxide into the environment.
“Some of these plans are short-term and some are long-term. It is hoped that all these plans will be completed in 4 years (March 20, 2025),” he said.
The National Iranian South Oil Company (NISOC) launched new units for the collection of flare gas at the Marun 6, Marun 3 and Mansouri oil production facilities on December 26, 2021.
The launch of these units will allow the collection of 14.3 billion cubic feet (about 405 million cubic meters) of flare gas per year.
