BAKU, Azerbaijan, April 27. GlobalData, a data analytics and consulting company, forecasts long-term labor shortages in the global oil and gas industry, leading to disruptions, Trend reports via the research from the company.

According to the report, the next few years will be crucial for the oil and gas industry, as the number of investors in the industry increase, and the need to recruit a new workforce is rising as well.

"COVID-19 pandemic-related disruption has caused the long-term skills shortage to take a backseat and, as the Russia-Ukraine crisis looms large, there is a risk that the industry’s internal weak points will go unaddressed," GlobalData said.

As Francesca Gregory, Associate Analyst at GlobalData said, oil and gas companies should start training the young workforce and pursue more flexible ways to maximize knowledge capture from those retiring from the industry.
