BAKU, Azerbaijan, Oct.3. Pipeline supplies from Azerbaijan to Europe will increase by 70 percent year-on-year during the 2022/2023 heating season and flow at nameplate capacity (33 mcm/d), Trend reports with reference to the International Energy Agency (IEA).

The latest report released by the IEA reveals that EU gas imports from Azerbaijan rose by 50 percent year-on-year in the first eight months of 2022.

The European Commission signed a Memorandum of Understanding on a Strategic Partnership in the Field of Energy with Azerbaijan in July, noting that Azerbaijani gas supplies could reach 12 bcm in 2022.

The supply of Azerbaijani gas to Europe through the Southern Gas Corridor began on December 31, 2020. Azerbaijan exported its natural gas to the European market through pipelines for the first time in history.

The Trans Adriatic Pipeline (TAP) which is the European part of the Southern Gas Corridor, annually supplies eight billion cubic meters of gas to Italy and one billion cubic meters of gas to Greece and Bulgaria.
