BAKU, Azerbaijan, June 5. Since the launch of the Baku-Tbilisi-Ceyhan (BTC) pipeline in June 2006 until May 1, 2023, it has transported 483.7 million tons of oil from Azerbaijan, a source in the country's oil and gas market told Trend.
The volume of oil transported through the BTC from January to April 2023 amounted to 9.802 million tons, compared to 9.173 million tons for the same period in 2022, showing a year-on-year increase of 6.8 percent.
BTC accounted for 76.4 percent of the 12.833 million tons of oil transported through Azerbaijan's main oil pipelines in the first four months of 2023.
Currently, the BTC pipeline mainly transports crude oil from the Azeri-Chirag-Gunashli (ACG) fields and condensate from Shah Deniz. Additionally, oil and condensate volumes from Kazakhstan and Turkmenistan continue to be transported via the BTC.
The shareholders of BTC Co. are: bp (30.1%), SOCAR (25.00%), MOL (8.90%), Equinor (8.71%), TPAO (6.53%), Eni (5.00%), TotalEnergies (5.00%), ITOCHU (3.40%), INPEX (2.50%), ExxonMobil (2.50%), and ONGC Videsh (2.36%).
