SOCAR reveals number of discovered oil & gas fields

BAKU, Azerbaijan, December 14. A total of 81 oil and gas fields have been discovered in Azerbaijan as of January 1, 2023, Trend reports via Azerbaijan’s state oil company SOCAR.

Currently, 58 of these fields are actively producing hydrocarbons, while operations on 23 fields are either dormant or have been halted. Among these, 39 are situated onshore, with the remaining 19 located offshore.

As of January 1, 2023, the actively operated fields in Azerbaijan contributed to an annual output of 32.646 million tons of oil and 46.737 billion cubic meters of gas. Since their commissioning, these fields have collectively produced 2.184 billion tons of oil and condensate and 992 billion cubic meters of gas.

Specifically, onshore fields generated an annual output of 1.416 million tons of oil and 188.5 million cubic meters of gas, while their cumulative production since commissioning amounted to 989.7 million tons of oil and condensate and 139.7 billion cubic meters of gas.

Offshore fields, on the other hand, contributed 31.231 million tons of oil and 46.549 billion cubic meters of gas over the year. Since their development began, these offshore fields have produced 1.194 billion tons of oil and condensate and 852.3 billion cubic meters of gas.
