Georgia has commenced implementation of a new project with the support of the German Development Bank (KfW) and the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD), Trend reports with reference to agenda.ge.

Within the joint initiative, 105 million euros will be spent on reconstruction of public buildings in Georgia. The budget is a combination of low interest loans of 80 million euros, an investment grant of 20 million euros and a grant of five million euros for technical assistance.

The project will include the reconstruction of public buildings using energy-efficient and renewable energy sources.

A bill to promote the production and use of energy from renewable sources has already been submitted to the Georgian Parliament for approval.

After the law comes into force, the Ministry of Economy and Sustainable Development of Georgia will develop a 10-year renewable energy action plan and submit it for approval by the Government of Georgia.
